About the conference

	In 2003 and 2005, the Faculty of Wood Sciences at the University of West Hungary organized two conferences, where internationally reknown speakers from all over Europe presented the newest research in the area of hardwood research and utilisation. The conferences were successful – educational, challenging and engaging.
In 2007, the Faculty of Wood Sciences celebrates 50 years of wood technology education in Sopron! This calls for an even bigger, better, more interesting conference. The focus of the meeting will be the beauty of hardwood in the broader sense; its physical and mechanical characteristics as well as aesthetic qualities, and the way they affect hardwood research and utilisation. If you would like to present a paper or a poster at our conference, please download and fill out the registration form (available in PDF or MS Word format), and return it to the conference registrar. Any presentations concerning hardwood research and utilisation are welcome, including, but not limited to the following topics: Ø Material characteristics Ø Hardwood processing Ø Biodegradation and preservation Ø Hardwood utilisation in composite materials Ø Product design and marketing This conference is for everyone who is involved in hardwood research, processing or utilisation. Even though the meeting will have a scientific focus, industry experts are also welcome to come and attend or present papers. The conference will offer an excellent oportunity to meet various international experts and exchange information on any hardwood related topic.
		Please note that the conference is tied in with Ligno Novum – Wood Tech, Hungary’s biggest annual forestry and wood technology fair, held between 5-8 September 2007. Attendents will have an excellent opportunity to visit the fair on the day following the conference. The conference will take place at the main campus of the University of West Hungary, located at the beautiful historic town of Sopron. Participants will have a chance to enjoy this wonderful setting and the laid back atmosphere of the city while learning about the latest developments in hardwood-related research.
